sambaru podi / curry powder

I dont know the perfect measurements because , back at home we used to make it onlly once a year (summer) and used to do it in huge quantitie so I just want to give a basic idea of  this recipe ( i never tried it and just helped my mom prepating it) . This should be done back at home because it requires a lot of hardwork and hardware ( big pestle....) .

Ingredients :
Dried Turmeric root .
Coriander seeds .
Jeera .
Fenugreek seeds .
Curry leaves
Garlic
Salt
Caster oil (aamudam )

  • Crush the dried turmeric roots (these are like hard stones , crushing  requires lot of energy)
  • Dry roast all the coriander seeds , jeera , frugreek seeds saperately .
  • Dry roast curry leaves .
  • Ground all to fine powder .( it is done in mills only )
  • In a big pestle crush the garlic by adding salt .
  • Now combine the gounded powder , crushed garlic and caster oil well .
  • Store it in clean and dry containers that has tight lit .
  • This will store up to one year .
